Before December 2022, Missouri cannabis laws only allowed the medical use of marijuana. But there is some good news for recreational consumers. Missouri Amendment 3 of November 8th, 2022, allowed adult or recreational use. You can now buy your favorite cannabis product from Mint Cannabis without checking who’s behind you. But before you place your first order, here is all you need to know about cannabis regulations in Missouri.

Missouri Cannabis Laws

Yes, marijuana is legal in Missouri. Amendment 3 made Missouri the 20th state to legalize cannabis in the United States. Since December 8, 2022, you can possess up to 3 ounces simultaneously, provided you are 21 and above. The law also allows medical possession for patients above 18 years.

You should bring a government-issued photo ID to buy your favorite cannabis product. While cannabis laws in Missouri allow purchase and possession, you can only buy cannabis products from a dispensary. However, dispensaries in Missouri operate within strict regulations that require them to verify a client’s age. The government-issued photo ID serves as proof that you are above 21. Medical consumers below 21 years but above 18 require a medical card to buy cannabis at a dispensary.

You do not require a medical card for cannabis to purchase marijuana products in Missouri dispensaries. You only need a government-issued photo ID to prove you are within the legal age limit for cannabis consumption.
However, you may need a medical card if you are below 21 or wish to exceed the possession limit. Depending on your physician’s prescription, dispensaries may allow you to purchase more.

Missouri dispensaries are open to residents and non-residents. You can shop at a dispensary provided you are 21 and have a photo ID to prove your age. However, cross-border possession remains illegal under federal laws. You cannot buy cannabis in Missouri and transport it across state borders, regardless of its legal status in the destination state.

You can only purchase 3 ounces per transaction. While you can visit several dispensaries daily, you cannot exceed the legal purchase or possession limit.

You no longer require a medical card to shop in Missouri dispensaries. However, cannabis laws in Missouri have set out age and possession limits. You should be at least 21 years of age to purchase or possess cannabis in Missouri.

The law also allows private cultivation of cannabis. However, you can only grow a maximum of 18 plants. Of the 18 plants, six should be mature, six should be approaching maturity, and the rest should be below 14 inches.
